Thank you for visiting my website. You may like to know a little about my background and how I started painting.

I started perspective drawings and painting with inks during my professional career as an architectural and interior design consultant, mainly for the purpose of presentation of new buildings and structures.

On retirement I continued to sketch and used watercolours for the first time after being inspired by the architecture along the Amalfi coast in Italy.

My architectural background helped with my drawings in perspective and is now expressed in the details of most of my paintings. Over a few years I have grown more confident with the use of watercolour as a medium and like to use vibrant colours where the subject matter allows.

Most of my paintings are taken from my own photographs and are a process of technical perspective drawings initially sketched to scale in pencil and then highlighted with a very thin drafting pen on stretched watercolour paper.

Watercolours are then applied to give depth of colour and texture in several washes.

When I begin a new painting I carefully select a subject to give me a new challenge. You will therefore see a variety of different subjects in my gallery. All of my paintings, without exception, are created for the pleasure that drawing and painting gives me.
